Rich Barker, on saxophones and flute, is originally from Vancouver BC, and played on the road for 11 years with the Note-Ables, his show band.  He sang, arranged, and played in Las Vegas, Reno, Lake Tahoe, Miami Beach, and in the Bahamas.  Rich recently moved to San Juan Island from Lexington Kentucky, and has started composing and arranging choral music and has several anthems submitted for publication.

David Brown plays lead acoustic guitar, and was a member of Dr. Corn's Bluegrass Remedy in Portland Oregon, for a hunnert years. He now plays with SJJQ every Friday night, at the Bella Luna Restaurant in Friday Harbor, is a music teacher, jack-of-all-trades, and plays solo and smaller group gigs at local events.

Thor Hanson, on double bass, recently rejoined SJJQ after a hiatus to pursue his doctoral research in Idaho and Costa Rica.  He is a conservation biologist, a writer, and an avid jazz fan with family roots in the San Juan Islands.  Thor plays regularly with SJJQ, teaches bass lessons, and also sits in with other island groups.

Dick Rich plays a custom built 7-string electric guitar.  He's been living in the San Juans Islands for nearly 20 years and playing with SJJQ from the beginning.  Dick is a Jazz fan (and if it has a groove, he'll play it), and sometimes weaves Country and Western licks into his work.  In his day job, Dick works in radio physics research and is a pilot.

Dennis Willows has been with SJJQ for about 15 years, and is a great fan of Jazz, Blues, and classical music.  When not playing with the band, he does neuroscience research and is a part-time skipper on the University of Washington's Research Vessel, Centennial.  He also occasionally plays guitar to accompany daughter Grace on the piano.
